Approve revisions to School Board Policy 5004.1, at this first reading. School Board Policy 5004.1 establishes school choice (Magnet Schools, NOVA, Opportunity Scholarship Program, reassignments, College Academy at Broward College, and Broward Virtual Schools) in the District. Recommendations have been reviewed and approved by the Senior Leadership Team and School Board General Counsel Office. In accordance with School Board Policy 1001, The School Board of Broward County, Florida has completed the review process for School Board Policy 5004.1. These revisions were discussed at the September 24, 2013 School Board Workshop, the October 17, 2013 Public Rule Development Meeting, and at the October 22, 2013 School Board Workshop. There is no additional financial impact to the School District, therefore, this item does not require a Collaboration Form from the Capital Budget Department.
