Requested Action
Adopt the revisions to School Board Policy 7003 at this final reading.
Summary
The Facilities and Construction Management Division recommends the revisions to Board Policy 7003 for the following reasons:
_ Change from Consultants' to Consultants
_ Eliminate school principal or designee as a voting member
_ Eliminate term limit for CRC membership
_ Define the term location and eliminate the "tie breaker"
_ Retain the "tie breaker" as Broward
_ Revise M/WBE terms
_ Clarify the selection process, adjust the scoring threshold and align staff/CRC activities
_ Add commas as follows: "The committee will, by a majority vote, approve_"
The revisions to Board Policy 7003 have been reviewed by staff, legal counsel, and the Policy Review Committee.
It is anticipated that implementation of the recommended revisions to Board Policy 7003 and full implementation of the procedures will improve and enhance the quality of facilities construction programs resulting with more efficient operations and economical outcomes.
