PURPOSE OF MEETING: For The School Board of Broward County, Florida to discuss and approve the Surveillance Camera System Access Agreement, and any other items the Board deems necessary.

 

SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATION:

 

1. Surveillance Camera System Access Agreements (Supporting Docs)

 

REVISED

 

Approve the agreements between The School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC) and the City cities of Sunrise, and Miramar, Florida.

 

In an effort to enhance law enforcement and fire safety personnel response to emergencies at District schools facilities, staff has collaborated with the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association to develop a template agreement for access to real-time (live) video feeds. The template articulates the use cases and restrictions to accessing District video surveillance cameras. Both of the agreements have the same terms. The terms are the same as previously Board approved video surveillance agreements with other municipalities.

 

This These Agreements has have been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

 

There is no financial impact to the District.

 

2. Recommendation to Approve Agreement - School Resource Officer (SRO) Program 2019-2020 (Supporting Docs)

 

ADDED

 

Approve the recommendation to award the above-referenced SRO Agreement for the City of Fort Lauderdale, City of Sunrise, and City of Miramar for Law Enforcement Officers. Contract Term: August 14, 2019 through June 3, 2020, 10 Months; User Department: Special Investigative Unit; Award Amount: $2,238,600; Awarded Vendor(s): City of Fort Lauderdale; City of Sunrise; City of Miramar; Small/Minority/Women Enterprise Vendor(s): None.

 

The School Board of Broward County, Florida, desires to have SRO's to provide security and crime prevention for schools within the jurisdiction of the city agencies.

 

These Agreements have been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

 

The estimated financial impact to the District will be $2,238,600. The funding source will come from the Safe Schools Allocation and referendum funding. The financial impact amount represents an estimated contract value; however, the amount authorized will not exceed the estimated contract award amount.
