All students from every race, culture, language, background, geographic region, and socio-economic level shall have the opportunity to fully develop their own artistic experiences. The School Board of Broward County, FL is committed to affording each child the privilege and access to PreK- 12 high-quality courses in all the arts disciplines as part of their basic education, regardless of background, culture, language, geographic region, and socio-economic level.

A-2. Resolution in Support of the United States 2020 Census (Supporting Docs)

 

SPECIAL ORDER - 11:35 A.M.

 

Approve Resolution 20-105 in support of the United States 2020 Census to help build awareness of the 2020 Census, and promote and distribute key messages throughout Broward County Public Schools that help explain the importance of the census and dispel fears which often discourage census participation.

 

United States Census Bureau has designated April 1, 2020 as Census Day, which is the deadline to submit a complete and accurate count of all persons residing in all counties, cities and states. The census is the basis for federal funding for many programs including educational programs.

The District, released ITB FY20-136 on October 30, 2019, and was opened on November 15, 2019. SBBC's primary objective for this ITB was to procure vendors providing mail processing equipment to be leased on a monthly recurring charge and related supplies.

This request is to approve the First Amendment between Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. and The School Board of Broward County, Florida, that expires on December 31, 2021. The agreement is being amended because MEP Structural, Engineering and Inspections, Inc. sold its assets inclusive of the Agreement for RFP 18-215C - Building Code Supplemental Services to Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc.

 

This Agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

The School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC), Department of Coaching & Induction, and BC have created a partnership to support the Teacher Education Pathway Program. The paraprofessional to teacher non-instructional program invests in current SBBC employees. The purpose of this Second Amendment is to extend the agreement to December 31, 2021.

This request is to approve the piggyback of the City of Jacksonville, Florida’s Request for Proposal (RFP) P-65-17 for Guaranteed Energy Performance Contracting Services awarded to Johnson Controls, Inc. The primary purpose of this contract is to enable Energy Service Companies to perform work under the Guaranteed Energy Performance Savings Contract Act, codified at Section 489.145, Florida Statutes. The City of Jacksonville, Florida, procurement was structured utilizing Section 489.145, Florida Statutes and Section 287.055, Consultants’ Competitive Negotiation Act.

EE-2. Agreement with the Community Foundation of Broward, Inc. (Supporting Docs)

 

Approve the Agreement between The School Board of Broward County, Florida, and Community Foundation of Broward, Inc. The Agreement period shall begin upon full execution of all parties and ends on June 30, 2020.

 

The Community Foundation of Broward, through the Turner France Fund, makes grants to Pompano Beach elementary and middle schools for teacher-developed projects to improve education.

 

The Agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel. This Agreement will be executed after School Board approval.

 

The positive financial impact is $11,000. There is no additional financial impact to the District.

Approve the Agreement between The School Board of Broward County, Florida, and the Florida Commission on Community Service, doing business as Volunteer Florida. The Agreement period shall commence upon full execution of all parties and shall conclude on September 30, 2020.

 

The District was awarded a $15,000 Volunteer Generation Fund grant award from Volunteer Florida to support the Day of Service and Love to occur February 14, 2020. This project will improve community resiliency through various school- and community-based service projects. Skills-based volunteers will build awareness, engagement, and connections during times of disaster recovery; create significant reflection and service opportunities; raise visibility of mental health needs within our community; grow the network of community partners; link communities with information, resources, and opportunities for ongoing service, and encourage stronger civic engagement. The grant submission was approved by the School Board on September 4, 2019 (Item #EE-1).

The positive financial impact is $15,000. The District will provide an in-kind match of $15,000 through 11.835 percent of the time of the Program Manager, Recovery.

This agenda item is to approve the spending authority requested in order to pay the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale for the cost of the related classroom instructor.

The template articulates the use cases and restrictions to accessing District video surveillance cameras. Both of the two (2) Agreements have the same terms. The terms are the same as previously Board approved video surveillance agreements with other municipalities.
