7. Personnel Recommendations for Non-Instructional Appointments and Leaves for the 2019-2020 School Year (Supporting Docs)

Approve the personnel recommendations for appointments and reassignments as listed on the attached Executive Summary. respective lists and individual appointments for Non-Instructional Employees. All recommendations are made pending security clearance and with the understanding that these individuals will comply with regulations/policies as set forth by the Florida Department of Education and The School Board of Broward County, Florida.

 

The Personnel Recommendations for Non-Instructional Employees include the following sections:

Funding has been budgeted in the 2019-2020 school /fiscal year for all appointments through June 30, 2020.

 

8. Board Member Travel Request: Ms. Patricia Good's Travel Request to Attend FSBA - 74th Annual Joint Conference in Tampa Bay, FL (Supporting Docs)

 

ADDED

 

School Board confirmation that Ms. Good's travel to attend FSBA - 74th Annual Joint Conference on December 4, 2019 through December 6, 2019 is for official School Board business and that it complies with the rules of the State Board of Education.

 

Florida Statute § 1001.39 (2019) requires that School Board members that travel outside of the District and are requesting reimbursement of travel expense in excess of $500 obtain approval from The School Board that the travel is for official school board business and that it complies with the rules of the State Board of Education.

 

Ms. Good plans to attend the FSBA - 74th Annual Joint Conference on December 4, 2019 through December 6, 2019.

 

A detailed outline of expenses is attached on page 2.

 

The financial impact to the District is approximately $1,141.52. The source of funds is School Board Member budget.

 

9. Recommendation to Approve Agreement - School Resource Officer (SRO) Program 2019-2020 (Supporting Docs)

 

ADDED

 

Approve the recommendation to award the above-referenced SRO Agreements for the City of Lauderhill and Pembroke Pines for Law Enforcement Officers. Contract Term: August 14, 2019 through June 3, 2020, 10 Months; User Department: Special Investigative Unit (School Police); Award Amount: $1,092,000; Awarded Vendor(s): City of Lauderhill; City of Pembroke Pines; Small/Minority/Women Enterprise Vendor(s): None.

 

The School Board of Broward County, Florida, desires to have SRO's to provide security and crime prevention for schools within the jurisdiction of the city agencies.

 

These Agreements have been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

 

The estimated financial impact to the District will be $1,092,000. The funding source will come from the Safe Schools Allocation operating budget. The financial impact amount represents an estimated contract value; however, the amount authorized will not exceed the estimated contract award amount.

 

10. Surveillance Camera System Access Agreements (Supporting Docs)

 

ADDED

 

Approve the agreements between The School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC) and the cities of Coconut Creek, Lauderhill, and Pembroke Pines, Florida.

 

In an effort to enhance law enforcement and fire safety personnel response to emergencies at District schools or facilities, staff has collaborated with the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association to develop a template agreement for access to real-time (live) video feeds. The template articulates the use cases and restrictions to accessing District video surveillance cameras. Each of the three (3) Agreements have the same terms. The terms are the same as a previously Board approved video surveillance agreement with another municipality.

 

These Agreements have been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

 

There is no financial impact to the District.
