PURPOSE OF MEETING: For The School Board of Broward County, Florida to discuss the Recommendation to Approve Agreement - Broward Sheriff's Office Program 2019-2020

 

SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATION:

 

Superintendent's Recommendation:

 

1. Recommendation to Approve Agreement - Broward Sheriff's Office Program 2019-2020 (Supporting Docs)

Approve the recommendation to award the above agreement. Contract Term: August 14, 2019 through June 3, 2020; User Department: Special Investigative Unit (School Police): Award Amount: $3,385,200; Awarded Vendor(s); 11; Small/Minority/Women Business Enterprise Vendor(s): None. See Supporting Docs for continuation of Requested Action.

 

The School Board of Broward County, Florida, desires to have SRO's to provide security and crime prevention for schools within the jurisdiction of Broward County.

 

This Agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

 

The estimated financial impact to the District will be $3,385,200. The funding source will come from the Safe Schools Allocation operating budget. The financial impact amount represents an estimated contract value; however, the amount authorized will not exceed the estimated contract award amount.

 

2. Agreement with the City of Hollywood, Florida (Supporting Docs)

 

Approve the Agreement between The School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC) and the City of Hollywood, Florida.

 

In an effort to improve law enforcement and fire safety personnel response to emergencies at District schools or facilities, staff has collaborated with the City of Hollywood, Florida to reach an agreement that would provide real-time (live) video feeds from select District's surveillance cameras when active circumstances at a public District school or facility within the city's jurisdiction present an immediate need for law enforcement or fire safety personnel to respond.

 

This Agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form and legal content by the Office of the General Counsel.

There is no financial impact to the District.
