PURPOSE OF MEETING: For The School Board of Broward County, Florida to Consider the Proclamation in Support of Broward County Penny for Transportation Referendum, and any other items the Board deems necessary.

 

SUPERINTENDENT'S RECOMMENDATION:

 

 

1. Proclamation In Support of Broward County Penny for Transportation Referendum   (POSTPONED 10/02/18 SBOM) (Supporting Docs)

 

MEMO TO VOTE DOWN

 

To approve the Proclamation In Support of Broward County Penny for Transportation referendum.

 

On the November 6, 2018 General Election ballot, Broward County will be coming to voters with a referendum for a penny surtax for transportation. The penny surtax will fund countywide transportation projects to relieve traffic congestion in all 31 municipalities that include improvements to traffic signalization, County roadways, intersection improvements, senior mobility options, public transportation (bus and rail) and to fund future investments in Broward's transportation system. The Broward Penny for Transportation will target transportation issues including school zone improvements among other issues.

 

There is no financial impact to the District.

 

2. Proclamation in Support of Broward County Penny for Transportation Referendum (Supporting Docs)

 

To approve the Proclamation in Support of Broward County Penny for Transportation referendum.

 

The November 6, 2018 general election ballot will contain a referendum question to fund countywide transportation projects to relieve traffic congestion in all 31 municipalities.
